October 27th: HG Halloween Party
The Hiligaynon Group Halloween Party held at the Don Camillo Restaurant in Bern on Octobe 27, 2007 was considered as the well attended fund raising party of the year!

The hall was packed with people who wanted to have fun, wear a costume, donate for a good cause and most of all dance the night away! The party was graced by none other that H.E. Mme. Minerva Jean Falcon, Ambassador of the Philippines to Switzerland, who presented a very inspirational and energizing speech and Fr. Johann Dumandan, a Filipino Chaplain in the German speaking part of Switzerland. Present were also the different leaders and members of various Filipino Organizations and friends.

The program of the evening was just superb! Highlighted by a dance number of our own HG members who showed their hidden talents (carry on girls), the nightigales Cheche Mandrique and Ada Marla Vitug who rendered heart-warming songs, the Visayan Dance Group's series of fabulous cultural dances and also the gymnastics/dance of Ronnie, who showed everyone how graceful he can be. But it would not have been that spectacular without the amazing sounds, compliment of our Vice-President Roland Susvilla.

The Group was able to gather substantial amount of funds for its project: Bantay Bata 163 (a foundation helping the poor, sick and abused children in the Philippines), the library/computer in the municipality of Igbaras, Iloilo and many others.

A million thanks to the officers, members and friends of HG who helped make this fund raising event a success.

August 26th: HG Summer Family Picnic

The 2007 Hiligaynon Family Picnic was hosted by Ralph and Jane Schnyder from Diegten BL. It was held at the family week-end house in Wintersingen BL on Sunday, August 26, 2007. The place is called “Rehfels”, and it is an interesting mixture of orderliness and wilderness. Orderliness because everything is in its proper place and wilderness because it is done with so much thought to preserve and show the beauty of nature.

That Sunday, Petrus graced us with a beautiful and a sunny day. Which was a welcome blessing, for the week before the weather was not so good. Double surprise for the organizing committee, for the event was very much attended by members and friends coming from canton Bern, Zürich, Aargau, Geneva, Basel and Baselland. Despite that in the invitation it said: “Picnic in the Wilderness”, perhaps they are all curios what the place looked like and came prepared for the worse. So much so, that we ended having surpluses of picnic materials such as Grill, Sunshades, Mats, etc. not to mention the great variety of food that everyone brought along.

All in all, the event was a success and everyone has had much fun that it was well extended up to the late afternoon/early evening. More power to us all.
